Rhu-Barb. // 2003-06-19 Phew. I'm exhausted. I had quite a day. I baked a practice pie and prepared a real one, I did the p-patching thing - we have some very interesting mutant flowers growing - I can't wait to see what they look like when they bloom - right now they look like crepe paper-stuffed tulips. I also went to the p-patch site coordinators meeting (Amishboy drove me there AND picked me up - ain't he sweet?). And then I went to visit Neko and give her some lovin'. Neko being RDG's cat for those of you who might not know. The Pie baking was the best part of today. I had Gillian Welch playing in the CD player, my housemates were coming in and out of the kitchen and it was great talking to them. I LOVE Stephanie - she's great! She had never had rhubarb before and was curious to see what it tasted like raw. I gave her a little piece - I'd never had any raw before either, and was about to take a bite when I saw the look on her face. It was like watching a small child try a lemon for the first time. She made the most amazing face. I didn't bother trying raw rhubarb after that. It was so wonderful to be cooking. I forget how much I like to cook sometimes. Too often I don't have time to make the meals I want to make. But the practice pie turned out well. I've been farming peices out to anyone who will take them. Anyway, I had a wonderful afternoon and I felt much better today than I did a few days ago. Bookstore boy called also. He's going to be in town this weekend and may show up at the Solstice Parade. Becca has been on the phone ALL DAY. She's on the phone now and it's after midnight. Arrgh! It's so hard for me to check messages and stuff. I am DEFINITELY getting a cell phone now - the question is which company and which phone and where can I test the phones to see if they are hearing aid compatible? |
